ED 870 - CAPSTONE SEMINAR
Instructor: Matthew Koehler
ED 870 assigns steps to create an online professional portfolio where parents, students, colleagues, or administrators could go to get a better snapshot, than just a resume, of who we are and what experiences we have. The course allowed for interactions between students to get the portfolio peer reviewed to improve the information on our website. This website is for this course.

CEP 820 - TEACHING STUDENTS ONLINE
Instructor: Dr. Anne Heintz and Sandra Sawaya
CEP 820 made me take the role of being an online educator with very little to no student interaction. This was the hardest part because I am a full-time classroom teacher. I used software that my current district has access to in case I want to continue using the webpage for my actual classroom. I gained a lot of experience with new software, especially Google Docs and Moodle.

KIN 854 - LEGAL/ADMINISTRATION ISSUES OF COACHING
Instructor: Rick Atkinson
KIN 854 provides explanations of laws and how they can be interpreted when dealing with administrators, coaches, athletes, and volunteers. We were required to take a stance on multiple situations provided to us, whether it was an injury at a sports complex, a coach being accused of hazing athletes, or relationships forming between athletes and staff members. We also created informational posters for tryouts and anti-hazing policies for student-athletes.

ED 800 - CONCEPTS EDUCATIONAL INQUIRY
Instructor: Steven Weiland
ED 800 focused on the development of inquiry and the different interpretations of how inquiry has been transitioned to what it is today. We used electronic readings, module descriptions for the course and websites text, “The Girl with the Brown Crayon”, and a video, Whale Rider. The course helped me get some ideas of how to use the information in the course to better my teaching.

KIN 857 - PROMOTING POSITIVE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT/SPORT
Instructor: Daniel Gould
KIN 857 gave me the opportunity to create a template for how to build an athletic program from the ground up. I focused on high school golf, because hopefully I will be the Varsity Golf Coach in the near future. Assignments were designed for us to develop and analyze our coaching philosophies and aspirations.

KIN 856 - PHYSICAL BASES OF COACHING
Instructor: George Harnick
KIN 856 allowed me to contact professionals in the community to make a network that I could refer athletes to if they are physically injured or need mechanical help in a sport. The course also had us analyze a technique using software to breakdown the film. We were assigned to create a nutrition plan for our athletes that would allow for proper recovery after an athletic event. Finally, to help prevent injury, I designed a dynamic warm-up to get all of the athletes muscles warmed up.

TE 846 - ACCOMMODATING DIFFERENCES IN LITERACY LEARNERS
Instructor: Lucia Elden
TE 846 required us to perform a case study on a student that struggles with reading. I chose to focus on my niece, who was 5 years old, which was just starting to read. I was able to see how a child develops reading skills from the beginning. I had to account for her parents, family members, and her emotional climate. Also in this course I created a list of times in a classroom a student has to know how and what to write; it is needed a lot more than they think.

TE 502 - INTERN TEACHING DIVERSE LEARNERS II
Instructor: Sylvia Hollifield; LaMoine L. Motz
TE 502 is the second semester of the student internship. All of the TE 501 obligations are still required, but this part of the internship provided me with the opportunity to teach a full schedule for a 10 week period. I was in charge of all of my mentor teachers courses. This part of the course prepared me for my first year of teaching at whatever school district I am placed at. I kept a course website up to date and wrote weekly reflections on how the internship was going and issues I was running into.

TE 801 - PROFESSIONAL ROLES AND TEACHING PRACTICE I
Instructor: Peter Youngs
TE 801 gave me time to research and write about issues that were happening at the school where I was doing my student internship. An example topic I wrote about was a student who did not want to move to a “lower” class because they would be seen as dumb and their parents would not let them do that. In class we discussed issues that we were running across based on geographical area.

TE 501 - INTERN TEACHING DIVERSE LEARNER I
Instructor: Sylvia Hollifield; LaMoine L. Motz
TE 501 placed me at Royal Oak High School for the 2009-2010 school year. I was placed with Jolie Booser, a math and chemistry teacher. On the first day of school I picked one focus class that I was going to teach every day until the end of my student internship. During this semester I got up to as many as 3 classes a day. I had to write unit plans and lesson plans that connected the plans to state objectives. I was observed by my teacher consultant and videotaped lessons to watch myself teach a lesson to see how it went from a different perspective.
