DESCRIPTIONS OF COURSEWORK ASSIGNMENTS FOR ED 870
Annotated Transcript
ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION
The educational purpose of this assignment is two-fold. First, the process of collecting, organizing, and reflecting on the courses in your master’s study is intended to encourage you to think about what you learned. Second, we want you to be able to show others something beyond the standard transcript (course numbers and titles), what you did to complete your degree. This means describing those experiences with a little more depth and breadth, linked to a few key examples. In short, we want you to begin the process of creating a *portfolio* that demonstrates what you have accomplished to your peers and significant others, including potential employers.

Showcase Page
ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION
A key element in your Capstone Portfolio is your presentation of the projects you’ve completed in your master’s coursework. Your showcase page will show off the work you’ve done, similar to that of an artist having a featured exhibition of their work.
On your showcase page, you will choose, arrange, and write about these examples of your work in a way that frames people’s perception about you and your strengths as a professional.

Goal Statement Reflection
ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION
The capstone course is designed to accomplish several purposes. One of those purposes is reflection, in this case, looking back over your studies and work, and reflecting on what you’ve learned and how your thinking has changed and been changed by your work in the master’s program. The Goals Reflection assignment is intended to serve this "looking back over" purpose. As we move toward the end of the course, your future assignments are designed to have you synthesize what you have learned and lay out a plan for your future as a lifelong learner in the age of the Web. But for this module the focus is on taking time to reflect on your original goal statement.
In this assignment you will look back at your thoughts about your goals when you began the master’s program and reflect on that goal statement in light of what you have learned and changes in your career goals. In addition, you should continue to finish up previous assignments – your resume, your annotated transcript, and your showcase, filling in examples of work from your other courses.

Future As A Learner Essay
ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION
In this deliberately broad assignment, we ask you to look to your future as a lifelong learner and write a "projective" essay about how you envision yourself continuing to learn and how your experiences in this master’s program have influenced your approach to lifelong learning.
You are nearing the end of your master’s degree and, for most of you, the end of formal schooling, but life and learning continue beyond the master’s program. In this time of rapid technological change and globalization, how will you keep learning and growing as an educator? Formal professional development workshops may very well be a part of your personal learning plan, but it may not be enough, so consider what other face-to-face and online resources you may have at your disposal as you manage your professional development and lifelong learning.
